Abstract

Paper deals with the problem of drug abuse in Republic Serbia which is one of the most difficult forms of the organized crime. The first part gives an overview of the concept, type and characteristics of the drug. The second part is dedicated to the national legislative framework for combating drug abuse. Particular attention is paid to solutions in the Criminal Code, strategic documents and action plans, then to authorized bodies (court, prosecution, police, and medical institutions) as well as multi-agency co-operation on the national level. The situation and the movement of narco crime were based on data from investigations of charged and convicted persons within ten years period. In concluding considerations state the need for harmonization of legal solutions in accordance with court practice and EU standards as well as strengthening the social response.
