International cooperation

This cooperation is the most prominent domain in the University functioning that is visible internationally. Directly managed by the Rector of the University, is it being realized in close correlation with the Rector’s team, the University Committee for Science and International Cooperation and in some segments with the network of faculty E+ coordinators, whereas the logistical support is provided by the administrative staff in charge of international relations employed at the Central Administrative Unit.


Cooperation represents a significant component of the University development strategy that provides the academic staff and students an opportunity for global activity and better preparation for facing future challenges.

UKLO initiates, nurtures and further develops relations of cooperation with educational institutions, organizations, associations and networks dealing with higher education issues, with partners in its immediate environment, from the region and wider, from Europe and the world.

UKLO is a member of the European University Association (EUA), Balkan University Association (BUA), Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), Uniadrion network of high education and scientific-research institutions from the countries in the Adriatic-Ionian basin, as well as a signee of the Magna Charta Universitatum.

In parallel, UKLO notifies a large number of signed inter-institutional and partnership agreements with similar HE institutions, whereas UKLO units are active members of international networks, associations and partnerships in the areas of their specific academic interest.


Internationalization of higher education, as a highest stage of international relations among universities, besides representing a priority goal for our University, is also viewed as an active means to improve the overall quality of education.

Internationalization, in this sense, involves every international activity, like initiating and developing cooperation relations with international universities and research institutions, associations and agencies supporting the enhancement of higher education, fostering academic and student mobility for learning and improving, participation in programmes and partnerships for joint educational, scientific-research and developmental projects, but it is also about implementation of international and intercultural, European as well as global values to every segment of the University activity. The international activity provides grounds for the University to increase its capacity in terms of quality academic offer, spreading the internationalization process to involve all its units, at the same time achieving improved international visibility and better positioning.

Internationalization as a two-way process of increasing awareness, learning about and accepting the values, standards and accomplishments of others, at the same time involves presenting to the others of our own, through a process of creating conditions for them to be better recognized internationally.

Cooperation agreements

In its commitment to increase the international visibility, University “St Kliment Ohridski” – Bitola, immediately or sometimes via its constituent units, establishes, nurtures and further enhances cooperation relations higher education and scientific research institutions from the neighboring countries, EU member states and wider, globally. The cooperation, bilateral or multilateral, is based on signing cooperation agreements with foreign universities as well as associations and foundations whose areas of interest tackles higher education and scientific-research issues.
